£1,500 stain not everyone’s cup of tea
IF you left a piece of tea-stained paper on your mum's kitchen table she'd probably clear it up and chuck it in the bin. But the piece of tea-stained paper in question is actually valued at £1,500, and is the work of Swansea artist Dan Rees. Measuring 37.8cm by 28.4cm and described as being made from 'Tea on Somerset paper', Mr Rees was inspired to create the work after he snapped up a £120 limited edition piece by Guildford-born artist Gavin Turk called 'Tea Stain'. He's famous for making sculptures of himself in the image of more famous people, like Sid Vicious. Tea Stain is just what it says – a circular mark from the bottom of a cuppa. .
